Pediatric Eye Exams
Kids often don't know something is wrong with their vision — because as far as they know, the way they see is just how everyone sees. That's why regular eye exams for children are so important. At our eye care center we offer kid-friendly eye exams that catch vision problems early, when they're much easier to treat.
Why Kids Need Eye Exams (Even If They Seem Fine)
Vision problems in children often go unnoticed because kids adapt without even realizing it. But those problems can quietly affect reading, learning, sports, and behavior. Conditions like amblyopia (lazy eye) and strabismus (eye turn) need to be caught early — ideally before age 7 — because the visual system is still developing and treatment is much more effective at an early age.
When Should Children Have Their Eyes Examined
First exam at 6 months old
Second exam at age 3
Third exam before starting school (around age 5)
Every year during the school years after that
A vision screening at the pediatrician's office is not the same thing as a comprehensive eye exam. Those screenings can miss a lot. Our exams are much more thorough and pick up things that screenings won't catch.
What Our Pediatric Eye Exams Include
